What's changed at Safari Lodge ??
Why did we open our own Hotel on the island...? Service, service...including Hot water Showers..all aimed at providing a higher level of service than our past alies and present competitors! We have managed to achieve our goals and are well on track for stage 2, including our new Bar and Restaurant and 3 Beachfront Bures, due for opening in early 2006.
So Who visits Safari Lodge...??
Safari Lodge is not for the young market wanting cheap budget accommodation. We provide quality fittings, new Queen inner sprung beds and Ceiling fans in all rooms. Martha, our Fijian hostess looks after your needs making sure you spend more of your time on Holiday relaxing than worrying about how to make your bed! If you would like a cooked breakfast at a discerning time on a balcony overlooking the water with a gentle sea breeze, then we can certainly look after you. If you regard Hot water showers as not a luxury, but a homely asset, then you'll enjoy Safari Lodge. Social evenings discussing the days activities and the World happenings, mixed with a great variety of personalities and professions, all from different parts of the World over a chilled Wine or Beer await you....We do not discourage Kids and the Directors own baby girl regularily provides plenty of entertainment....

future which has amazing potential. Stephs salads and dressings are great. Martha makes a great Safari mum!

Janine & I emerged from the bush after a hot long walk down the island from the "other lodge". Safari Lodge was a welcome sight. Had a wonderful time relaxing. Thanks so much for saving us from our inept attempt at Lodge selection and orienteering. Food, company, location, lodgings – top marks!
Janine and Geoffrey 19/07/05
Here we are from Australia and afar here to sail the wind in Nananu–I-Ra.
We’ve made new friends who kite and sail there lean and mean mostly male.
There is Matt and Ilasio who get tanned + lucky charming and chasing the girls in Rakiraki.
There is peter +James father and son who would not be seen together in a bar having fun.
Scott is more reserved and very cool fellow
But not as cute as Phil, a very British traveler
Who came to stay, work + play a little but longer.
As kitchen hand, rouse about and Windsurfing instructor.
They all did a bit of drinking over the back.
Then Stumbled home at midnight on the sandy track
We me the lovely stephanie and bay alleci
A jolly jumping bundle a real bouncing beauty
steph cooked and cleaned and swept in and out.
She organised the wharf ladies and all the boys about
Kayaking visitors came and went
Some stayed in the safari lodge, some in a tent.
I've snorkled every inch of reef and walked up and down the beach
I've seen turtles, rays and giant fish, turned 53 and made a wish
Up till now the wind has been slow only light weight keith could really have a go
But now its howling – how the wind does blow
Everyone is planning and putting on a show
Warren has a vacancy next week, keith doesn’t want to go
This air ticket is re-organised on the telephone
While I go up to pack my things + head on back to home.
So warren look after him and sent him home to me.
Then maybe we'll be back again. to this part of fiji.
so moce maca and safari lodge crew, vinaka, vinaka vaka levu.
Barbara + Keith Horsley - Australia 23/07/05
Look / Front hand overhand / Rear hand back / Head off 30% flat
Sheet in / Unhook / Lean forward and bend them / Rear foot to rail /
Rear toe pressure, both heels off Rotate – Slide, push, pull, catch
If you do all of this in sequence, you wan’t crash and burn!!
Great trip, esp making tracks in “jibe alley”.
Keith Horsley, Australia 30/07/05
Lost track of time...Blasted all week in 15-25 knots – MAGIC!
Crashed and burnt a lot but had a great time.
Wonderful food, place and friends.
I hooked up and got planing!!Yippee
Phil and Alexandra - QLD Australia
Phil is great, but I am better than him, and he is only 19 years old. So, it was sonderful to be with kind people.
Berrangre - France.
It was very nice to find a nice place to do kitesurfing, after I asked two hundred Fijian people where we can find a windy place.
Nice to meet a lot of very nice people, but if we come back again, please warren try to make an effort to speak French and find a lot of young people for me
Nice to meet you, and thanks for all your (sympathie).
This is an autograph of a kitesurf’s girl champion. You be very lucky to have this one. Next time I can teach you kitesurf and help you in windsurf.
Very nice to meet you and I hope see you again to show you Michel and the baby.
Thanks for this holidays.
B like Berangere, France 01/08/05
What a place! Beats 5-Star Sheraton - Denerau, hands down. Watersports, hospitality, great food and lots of fun.
Throw in the sun, sparkling water, the wind blowing gently (too bad for windsurfers) in the trees
and the gentle lapping of the waves on the beach and that equals paradise.
Thank you Warren and company for a spectacular end to a holiday of a lifetime.
Conversation and laughs with new friends was the icing on the cake.
Cheers,
Felicity, Ohio USA 01/08/05
What a place to windsurf and snorkel, great visibility.
The best part was meeting new friends and all the great conversation.

As far as modern man can go back to a distant past, nature and the ocean where the tides
of the sea deterimine our life rhythm and the wind propels you over the sea a unique experience
Thank you for making this possible.
Hans Siegmann, USA 15/08/05
We really ENJOY our stay in this place that we can call PARADISE!

Thanks Warren and Stephanie and the team for all your hospitality.

Steph, Warren and Aleeci – What great company. The hospitality would be AAA+
Steph and Aleeci, you are both a real asset - I am sure Warren knows how lucky he is.

Great times in “Feejee”. We had a short stay, but ws exactly what 2 Canucks living in Japan needed.
Great windsurf gear.
Gavin de Jong 18/09/05
You can never judge a book by its cover.... How many times can we learn this lesson in a lifetime?
We knew a 4-day trip would force me to face so much truth about human kind!
To think I came here to learn how to tack a sailboard, and left with so much more. You have given me a goal,
lofty though it may seem. A man who can pull off “speedo’s” with such class not only earns my respect, but my admiration,
and well, yes I’ll admit a little envy. Vain tutelage is more than I could have bargained for, and the mentoring I have received is priceless.
I’ll continue to work on the “tack”, and you keep on telling people you’re heterosexual.
It’s been fun, Warren! Thanks for being a great host!
Glen - Japan 18/09/05
Well another fab stay, Warren, what can we say? cheers for teaching us basic windsurfing style,
you know you were surprised at how good we are! Look forward to more lessons.
See you very soon! (when Rakiraki begins to get dull - again.)
Cheers mate.

Had a fantastic 6 days at Safari Lodge. Safari Lodge is like a home away from home. It’s been both relaxing and exhausting with all the activity. Some excellent snorkelling & waterfall swimming & I’ve nearly mastered the hasness due to the excellent windsurfing instruction. Best food I’ve had in ages, particularly Steph’s home baked cakes. And Aleesi has entertained us all week with her funny noises and faces!!
Thanks guys – Emily & Jon

Safari Lodge made for a perfect ‘stopover’ on my round the world trip – one week in paradise, and one mission…Learn to windsurf! And my god Warren, you were patient! Each step of the way I thought I’d never master this sport of kings (and princesses) But…finally, nailed it! Sailing, beach starts…even, would you believe it…tacking! And as for supplying an army of men everyday – Warren you were spoling me! ‘Beautiful’ ‘Wonderful’ – thanks!

Having travelled OZ & going on to NZ to travel, we came here for an in-between rest. It has been near perfect. Lovely walks, swimming, snorkelling & the fish & coral are beautiful (feed the fish at the jetty and swim with them), or use the canoe here. Accommodation in the bure was excellent as was the friendliness & help from the staff. If you are a fisherman you must… If you are not you should… Go out fishing off the distant reefs with Tota. He and I caught walu, barracuda- 6 to 40 LBS (20kg) & a huge fish played for 10mins before snapping the line…Fantastic!
More of a DIY than packaged playboy island. It was just what we wanted. Ask & do it. Don’t regret it. Wonderful. Recommending
Brian and Delia (London)
P.S. Food is basic but good. Advise the staff of your likes & dislikes & enjoy

Thanks from Tanni, Malene and Sofie
20/03/07
A huge thank you to all of you for making my stay on Nananu-i-Ra hugely enjoyable and relaxing. After spending a week at the Yasawas where one feels more like a number than a valued guest, it was great to stumble across the warm hospitality of Safari Lodge where I felt like I was staying with family or close friends. Best of luck with the spa and other expansions and I shall certainly be staying here again if I end up in Fiji again.
Kind regards
Haythen Roshed (UK)
P.S. If your thinking of diving here then try to go to the outer sites in Bligh water. Its an hour by boat to get there but the coral and marina life is beautiful and well worth the visit.

I hope that you all enjoy your stay here as much as I did, three days of fun, great hospitality and really good people, definitely the highlight of my trip so far. If you come here to go kiting listen to Warren for apparently the winds are always coming…
Cheers for your hospitality

Truly a little slice of paradise! Especially the dinners & desserts were fantastic… ah, yes, and the handpicked- just-for-us coconuts, and of course the virtual whirlpool! Although a little bit loud, we learned to love the fruit bats- every mango we will eat from now on will bring up the picture of them hanging in the tree. What else? Some new jokes about kiwis, a sea snake, beautiful fish at the jetty, a nice wine deal (highly recommended), strange floating pumices and an awesome dive with kai-viti divers (advertisement!)
Thank you Stephanie, Warren, Lina, Aseri!

Thanks for a great stay at the lodge; very beautiful beach at a great lodge. Thanks for your hospitality! Enjoyed my stay even though I did not get to windsurf every day and got a bit restless.
Thanks again!

Fantastic 2 weeks. Sorry about the wind in the middle bit, it however discovered new/unknown ability to kayak around the island. People, food, fish, snorkelling, other guests, Aseri, Martha, Aleeci, Warren and the incomparable Stephanie made the whole experience wonderful. We will be back…

Thank you to Steph & Warren for making me feel so welcome. Felt more like I was a family guest than a paying resident at a resort. The relaxed & family atmosphere you’ve created here is unique & special and is what I’ll take most away from here-even the diving! Thanks again for all your hospitality, I’m genuinely gutted to be leaving.
See you again next Jan though for surf
Until then, adios!

Refreshed after Suva and the King’s Road! Great snorkelling, swimming & relaxing. Shame not enough wind for Stephen to kitesurf , maybe he is a little relieved though. Great teaching from Warren & many thanks for that. Tasty food & we leave heavier than we arrived. I think it says it all when we came for 1 night and stayed for 5!
Thank you Warren and Stephanie & good luck for your future plans

Vinaka vaka levu for the nice time had here in Nananu!
After 4 months spent in Fiji, it will be so hard to come back in “civilized” countries…
Maybe I’ll be back in Fiji very soon so if you see me again don’t be surprised, I have enjoyed so much my stay in Fiji. The peoples are great, the food is cool and Yaqona is something incredible. For don’t spend many words about it, Nananu-i-Ra is simply a paradise! It has changed so much in my life!
Arrivederci

We came for 2 days and stayed 2 weeks. Thanks to the hospitality of Steph and all the staff here. Steph’s cakes and puddings were sufficient reason alone to stay here! A huge thanks to Steph, Martha and Aseri for being so wonderful and cooking great food. Vinaka vaka levu to everyone, thanks for the memories, and the sunburn, and the bananacake.

Thank you for a wonderful 2 weeks at Safari Lodge! We kited so much and loved every minute of it! Damo was a fantastic help and the Ladies were wonderful as well. The Kava nights were fun and the communal spirit around meal times made the experience even better. Warren you have made a wonderful little slice of heaven and sending us home well fed, totally buggered (after all that kiting) and full of great memories and experiences. I can’t wait till we come back and I will definitely be recommending Safari Lodge to other like-minded travellers
All the best, till next time

We had a fantastic time. Great kiting. The best!!!
Great service by all and thank you so much for looking after us so well. We loved Safari Lodge and we look forward to coming back in November for more kiting. We’ve never been so buggered, sunburnt, coral cut etc…but it was all worth it!!! I’m up on the board kiting & Rob is jumping like a Pro. We loved the downwinders & Damo thanks for your help with the lines, as Rob always says : How can 4 lines get so tangled??
Thanks Warren, you have a piece of heaven here, well done on all the hard work! We will highly recommend you to our fellow kiters.
See you again soon
